Andreeva T.A. at the Congress of Russia's Anthropologists and Ethnologists

On July 2-6, 2025, Tamara Alekseevna Andreeva, junior researcher at the Center for African Strategy in BRICS of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, took part in the XVI Congress of Russia's Anthropologists and Ethnologists, which was held in Perm.

On the first day of the section "Anthropology and History: Interweaving Sciences in the Study of Cultures and Societies" Tamara Alekseyevna presented a report "The Legacy of the Mali Empire in the Formation of National Identity". The presentation examined the elements and practices that form national identity, and also presented the results of a survey among Malians.

In 2025, the organizers of the Congress were the Administration of the Governor of Perm Krai, the Association of Ethnologists and Anthropologists of Russia, the N.N. Miklouho-Maclay Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Humanitarian Research of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (branch of the Perm Federal Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences), and Perm State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University. The event is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs, and the History of the Fatherland Foundation. The Congress is also dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Komi-Permyak Okrug of Perm Krai, the first national district in the USSR.
