The article provides a brief analysis of the results of the 2024 elections, which marked the end of the era of single-party rule by the African National Congress (ANC) in South Africa. After losing a significant share of the vote, the ANC formed a "centrist" government consisting of representatives from different parties with conflicting political programs. The aim of the work is to assess the 2024 elections and the performance of the new Government of National Unity. It is found that the decline in ANC support is primarily due to the worsening socio-economic situation in the country. Despite internal ideological conflicts, the Government of National Unity and the ruling elite demonstrated the ability to find compromises and contain the escalation of crisis phenomena.
